  • Lower Macungie Fire Department announced the passing of firefighter Jim VanWert (45 years of service) Tuesday. Community members remembered his long dedication to keeping the area safe.  WFMZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Constellation acquired Calpine's Bethlehem Energy Center last week after completing a $26.6 billion deal and will divest the natural gas plant at 2254 Applebutter Road later this year by order of the DOJ.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Brad Klein and Bethlehem’s Backyard Astronomy Guy, Marty McGuire, review astronomical highlights including a total lunar eclipse on March 3 and a total solar eclipse on Aug. 12 requiring a connecting flight from the local airport to Spain + Jupiter shines at night while Venus switches from evening to morning star.  WLVR

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Recent investments in manufacturing fueled growth in the Lehigh Valley economy. B. Braun’s $20 million expansion in Hanover Township created 200 jobs & Bosch Rexroth began a $20 million project in Bethlehem, which added to the region’s nearly 700 manufacturers producing $9 billion annually.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development
