- ➤ MLK Day service events will take place on Monday, Jan. 19 across the region, including food kit assembly at Reading Hospital, a civil rights march with guest speakers in Bethlehem, and cultural celebrations at local sites. - ➤ Richard Groman Jr. will visit the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 to share his family’s bakery legacy and tour the 'Baked into Bethlehem' exhibition (tickets are $15 for members and $25 for the public, including admission to the Moravian Museum). - ➤ The State Theatre for the Arts in Easton announced that a record 31 Lehigh Valley schools will participate in this year’s Freddy Awards. Nominations will be unveiled on Thursday, May 7 at noon while the live broadcast airs on Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. on WFMZ+. WFMZ

- ➤ Seven Lehigh Valley companies will share a $2.1 million investment from Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania. - ➤ Bethlehem Area School District begins its semester-long Communications Internship this month to train high school students in journalism and social media, officials said. - ➤ Next week, the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission will consider plans for a large data center project in South Whitehall at 2493 N. Cedar Crest Blvd, involving six buildings on 410 acres. The meetings on Jan. 20 and Jan. 22 will review potential impacts on noise, power, and land stability. WFMZ

- ➤ Officials report that 800K Narcan doses reversed over 11K overdoses across Pennsylvania in the past year. Recovery centers in Lehigh County noted more walk-ins for treatment as $2 billion in opioid settlement funds expand lifesaving care (efforts continue to lower daily deaths). WFMZ
- ➤ Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio is now performing postmortem nasal swabs for influenza, COVID-19, and RSV in in-home deaths amid rising flu cases and high emergency room visits. The office hopes to share data with the health department (and give families needed closure). WFMZ

- ➤ On Thursday, the Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS reported that home-for-sale inventory dropped 9.3% in Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties (605 units in Lehigh and Northampton) and that median sales prices in Lehigh and Northampton rose to about $337,500. The report noted pending sales are rising as buyer demand remains strong. WFMZ
