  • Triplets Janice, Carolyn & Marilyn of the Elliott family celebrated their 80th birthday with a surprise party at Palace Restaurant on Easton Avenue. Family members gathered to honor the milestone and local traditions.  Bethlehem Press

BUSINESS NEWS

  • B. Braun will name Michael Parden as its new CEO on May 1 as current leader Rob Albert retires on June 30. Parden, who brings strong sales and operations experience from the UK branch, will relocate with his family to the Lehigh Valley to lead the local company.  WFMZ
  • Hotel Bethlehem named Kelly Ronalds as its new general manager, the first woman in 45 years to lead the hotel, and she will build on its Main Street legacy (adjacent to a UNESCO World Heritage Site). She began her career as a 19-year-old clerk at a Holiday Inn.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • ArtsQuest announced new board officers for 2026 with Joe Bergstein Jr. continuing as chair of the board of trustees, Cindy Marsh elected as chair of the Performing Arts Board, Ward Van Haute named chair of the Visual Arts Board, and Hillary Harper chosen as chair of Friends of Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks.  Bethlehem Press
  • GotArt! will return to JuxtaHub in Emmaus this Valentine’s Day weekend as a fundraiser for Lehigh Art Alliance & Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Eli Lilly announced a $3.5 billion investment to build a manufacturing campus in Upper Macungie Township that will create 2,000 temporary construction jobs + 850 permanent six-figure positions. It emphasized its community focus, a move expected to generate a $4 spillover per dollar spent.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bethlehem schools are sharing updates – a tentative special meeting on Feb 9 at the Education Center, Basketball Night today with local middle schools, and a Freedom HS open house for incoming 9th graders on Feb 11, with several schools closing for Presidents Day.  Bethlehem Press
  • Students with business ideas can participate in Lehigh's EUREKA! program that offers coaching, funding and pitch workshops — the Baker Institute hosts monthly sessions where undergrad and grad students learn to turn ideas into action.  The Brown and White
  • Lehigh University’s CALiCo Lab is running the ChEESE project to study how family stress, community support, and neighborhood resources shape children’s social and emotional growth in the Lehigh Valley.   • Suzanne Makary, a board-certified music therapist at St. Luke’s Penn Foundation, coauthored a new 224-page book that shows educators how to use music to teach emotional and social skills to children from kindergarten through fifth grade.   • A cold snap has triggered multiple water main breaks in the region, including a repair this morning on East Emmaus Avenue in Bethlehem, where eight customers remain under a boil water advisory; officials urge residents to report any bubbling water.  WFMZ
  • Lehigh County Board of Commissioners met Jan. 14 to discuss local health care challenges, including volunteer help for Medicare open enrollment (available support), and to sustain seed farms amid federal policy changes. The board approved routine meeting minutes and several appointments and said future updates will be shared.  Bethlehem Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials warn residents to avoid walking on frozen rivers and lakes in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey as dropping temperatures create thin ice and dangerous currents. They advise wearing life jackets and informing someone of your route if near water.  WFMZ
