CULTURE NEWS

  • ArtsQuest held its 16th annual Souper Bowl at Musikfest Cafe at SteelStacks last Sunday to celebrate Bethlehem's diverse dining culture as 15 soup vendors competed and Cathy's Catering won the people's choice award (Winter WineFest/Market is scheduled for Feb. 15 and a Spring Beer Festival on March 29).  The Brown and White
  • Everclear, the 1990s alt-rock band known for hits Santa Monica and Everything to Everyone, will perform at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Musikfest Cafe at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. Tickets cost $40-$55 and go on sale Friday, Feb. 6.  Lehigh Valley News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Eli Lilly reported strong Q4 results on Wednesday morning and outlined plans for a $3.5 billion manufacturing campus in Upper Macungie Twp to create 850 jobs. Construction will begin later this year and the facility is expected to be operational in 2031.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vo-tech students competed in Skills USA at the Allentown Fairgrounds Wednesday. Over 500 students took part in 62 competitions and winners will advance to state + national contests.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov Shapiro’s proposed $53.2 billion budget did not include a pay boost for home care workers as the industry faces growing staffing gaps while 400,000 residents depend on in-home care (the Pennsylvania Home Care Association said wages remain stagnant).  WFMZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Monday, Jessica DeRose and Karli Visconto of Only Human Project hosted a mental health discussion at Lamberton Hall, engaging more than 100 college students to explore topics such as career uncertainty and self-identity. They shared practical tips for managing stress.  The Brown and White
  • Local blood banks face low donation levels as winter weather forces canceled drives and boosts volunteer efforts. Miller-Keystone Blood Center, which supplies blood to 30 hospitals in the region, asks 100 viewers to sign up to donate by Friday.  WFMZ
