COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Lehigh Valley Auto Show will open on Wednesday, Mar. 18, at 5 p.m. at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus and will run until Sunday, Mar. 22. The event spans 140,000 sqft of vehicles and adds a new charity gala on Saturday, Mar. 21 to support local youth organizations.  Lehigh Valley Live

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Eli Lilly and Company will build a $3.5 billion manufacturing campus in Lehigh Valley to produce weight loss medications, creating 850 permanent jobs and 2,000 construction jobs while sparking potential $14 billion in related spending.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

CULTURE NEWS

  • Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem is hosting a mid-week Lenten series to mark the 275th anniversary of the Old Chapel (located at 40 W. Church St.) starting today, with dinner at 6 p.m. and an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. The series continues weekly with historical programs.  Bethlehem Press
  • Bethlehem's 16th Annual Parade of Shamrocks will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 in Historic Downtown Bethlehem, featuring pipe bands, marching bands, Irish dancers, and community groups + activities begin with a Historic Leprechaun Hunt at 10 a.m.  WFMZ
  • Country singer Kane Brown, known for his platinum hits, will perform at Wind Creek Event Center on April 23 at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Feb. 20 on the event center website and at the box office at 77 Wind Creek Blvd.  Lehigh Valley News
  • The Southside Arts District in South Bethlehem will host Winter Restaurant Week from Feb. 23 through Mar. 1 featuring dine-in and takeout options with limited-time menus and discounts. Guests can scan a QR code at participating restaurants to enter a gift card giveaway.  Bethlehem Press
  • Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites has announced Colleen Gilbert as board chair, effective Jan. 1, while welcoming new members and officers. The nonprofit aims to boost historic preservation & attract more visitors with its ongoing Taking the World Stage campaign.  Bethlehem Press

  • LVEDC’s Annual Meeting will include a trivia challenge that highlights local manufacturing milestones—from iconic products to a $3.5 billion Eli Lilly investment—and will take place March 17 at ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem from 3:30 to 5 p.m.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

  • Bethlehem Area Public Library offers many free events this week at its Main Branch, Southside, Coolidge and Fountain Hill locations. Today, gentle yoga runs from noon to 1:15 p.m. and an author talk 'Road to Nowhere' runs from 6 to 7 p.m.; call the library for details.  Bethlehem Press
  • Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical seniors Nate Newcomer and Julian Korpics won first place at the GLVADA automotive technology competition held in February at Ag Hall — they each earned a $4,000 scholarship, a full ride to Universal Technical Institute, and prizes ahead of the Pa.   • Lehigh University announced it received a record 20,441 applications for the incoming Class of 2030 on Feb. 17 at 11:31 a.m., marking a 5.7% increase from last year. Local high school applications also reached a record high of 598 (up 12.4%).  Bethlehem Press
  • Local students from the Bethlehem Area School District have been creating a podcast on art and American history at ArtsQuest’s free Teen Takeover program—led by podcasters Lys Sparrow-Serraino and Daniel Chiles. The workshop meets weekly this February in Bethlehem and draws on Revolutionary art for inspiration.  The Brown and White

  • First-year swimmer Eliza Johnson energizes local meets with her barking superstition by winning a 50-yard freestyle in 23.81 seconds at the Navy Invitational and earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week + she will race today at the Patriot League Tournament in Annapolis, adding her versatile sprint and relay skills.  The Brown and White
  • Special Olympics athletes will take part in the Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge at Coca-Cola Park this Saturday at 10 a.m. to raise funds for Team Northampton flag football, which will represent Team Pennsylvania at a national competition in Minnesota & help cover costs like transportation and uniforms.  WFMZ
