COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation launched a survey yesterday to gather input from residents, business leaders, students and visitors on the Southside Arts District program including Third and Fourth streets. The 5 to 7 minute survey — available in English and Spanish — is on the District's website to shape future plans.  Bethlehem Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Idobi Radio Summer School Tour will perform at Archer Music Hall in Allentown on July 8 with five pop-rock bands including Honey Revenge, South Arcade, Games We Play, Winona Fighter & Chase Petra. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb 27 at the Archer website and box office.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Bethlehem native Sherri Hines, 58 (a lifelong Eagles fan), auditions as a cheerleader to fulfill a dream four decades in the making. The teacher and EMT hopes her efforts inspire other older adults to check something off their bucket list.  WFMZ
  • The Parade of Shamrocks will take place on March 14 at 1 p.m. in Historic Downtown Bethlehem as the Celtic Cultural Alliance joins the City to celebrate Irish culture. It will feature bands, dancers, and early festivities including the Historic Leprechaun Hunt (10 a.m.) for local groups.  Bethlehem Press
  • The Allemaengel 250 Committee will host a 250th-anniversary tribute on April 11 at Kempton Community Center featuring historical reenactments and educational displays anchored by Northwestern Lehigh Middle School's colonial encampment—parking and admission are free.  Bethlehem Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northwestern Elementary held its annual 100th day celebration on Feb. 6 as kindergartners dressed as centenarians and paraded among classrooms wearing creative costumes like suspenders and bow ties (photos showed students shuffling with playful slow motions). The celebration highlighted learning milestones and remains a cherished tradition.  Bethlehem Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bethlehem Historic Conservation Committee halted plans for a seven-story mixed-use building on South New Street after concerns surfaced over demolishing historic structures including the Italianate façade at 321-323 S. New St. The developer must submit revised plans for further review.  WFMZ
  • At a Feb. 9 meeting, the Weisenberg Board approved several payments and change orders for the donor funded community center (financed entirely by local donors). Town Manager Brian Carl detailed progress and secured unanimous board consent.  Bethlehem Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Historic and Architectural Review Board granted a certificate for revised plans at 33 W. Walnut St. with 107 apartments after design tweaks. It approved a new slate roof for Central Moravian Church and a wood pergola for a Market St. home (local updates).  Bethlehem Press
