COMMUNITY NEWS

  • During Ramadan, the Muslim Student Association hosts iftar almost every weekday at Lehigh, inviting students and community members to break fast with dates, lamb, watermelon, and dolma. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kelly Ronalds, who has worked at Hotel Bethlehem since 2010, was named its new general manager on Feb. 1, making her the first woman to lead the 100-year-old hotel (now a UNESCO World Heritage site) as she begins overseeing full operations and national branding efforts.  The Brown and White
  • North Street Cafe, a new breakfast and lunch restaurant at 46 W. North St. in Bethlehem, will have a soft opening at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2 and a grand opening on March 6 while offering omelettes+ sandwiches and preserving the cozy decor of former Darto’s.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Daniel Roebuck's latest comedy-drama, The Hail Mary, was shown digitally at The Roxy Theatre. The film blends football, heartfelt humor, and faith-based moments (including a moving chapel scene) to offer audiences a unique local experience.  Bethlehem Press
  • Brown and White strolled through the South Side talking with local women about their work in hospitality, theater, libraries, and donuts (sharing insights on community connections). The conversations showed how each job builds a strong sense of belonging in Bethlehem.  The Brown and White

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday, Lehigh suspended all Greek social events indefinitely after a racist image circulated online, prompting university officials to refer the incident for investigation (aiming to protect Black students and students of color).  The Brown and White

HEALTH NEWS

  • Renovations were completed at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest's David and Jackie Jaindl Family Birth and Newborn Center; it now has 10 labor rooms, 10 perinatal rooms, two operating rooms, and seven triage rooms, plus a birthing suite with a hydrotherapy tub (upgraded for latest care), following a Sept. 2025 ribbon-cutting.  Bethlehem Press
  • Free Narcan, hygiene supplies and wound-care kits are now available at two 24/7 kiosks in Allentown and Slatington. The devices, funded by opioid settlement dollars, let residents get life-saving materials anonymously anytime.  WFMZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • After recovering from a right knee injury, Lehigh heavyweight wrestler Nathan Taylor has returned to active competition and holds a 13-2 record. He will compete for his second EIWA title at American University from March 6-7 while being recognized as a strong leader on the team (ranked No. 9 nationally).  The Brown and White
  • Liberty's swimmers Lilah McClarin, Leah Onia, Audrey Bloss-Ferry and Elle Surowiecki earned a silver medal in the girls 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.98 at Parkland High School on Feb. 20 + Onia also took bronze in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:09.58 finish.  Bethlehem Press
  • Freedom senior Hayden Taylor (with 569.45 points) won the District XI Class 3A Diving Championship on Feb. 18 at Parkland High School and will compete at Bucknell University for the PIAA State Diving Championships in March, while Emma Pitsilos placed sixth and Liberty’s Eva Madeira placed eighth.  Bethlehem Press
  • Junior Elijah Heimbach from Liberty qualified for the Northeast Regional 3A tournament after a close 3-2 loss for third place in the District 11 medal rounds & earned a solo spot on his team.  Bethlehem Press
  • Freedom’s Daniel Schiffert won his second District 11 3A championship on Saturday evening at Liberty’s Memorial Gymnasium — he defeated Easton’s Kurtis Crossman 11-1 in the final match. Schiffert now prepares for regionals on Friday afternoon while aiming to enhance his performance.  Bethlehem Press
