COMMUNITY NEWS

  • LEPOCO, founded in 1965, will host its weekly peace vigil tomorrow from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the South Side corner of Wyandotte and South Third—an open invitation for Bethlehem residents to join in a calm, community gathering.  Bethlehem Press

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Just Born Quality Confections in Bethlehem announced a limited-edition lineup of PEEPS® collaborations for Easter featuring treats and merchandise from partners including Hostess, Rita's, Chip City and The Children's Place. The products will be available at select retailers nationwide — offering festive spring options.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Moravian Academy students recently celebrated Chinese New Year with lion dance, Yangko dance, and Tang dynasty poetry in their Melhado dining room, plus they later broke fast at an Iftar dinner hosted by the Muslim Student Association.   • On Feb. 4, the 133-member All City Band performed its annual concert at Northeast MS auditorium after two days of rehearsals (featuring students from four BASD middle schools) under the guidance of band directors and guest conductor Clayton Reilly.  Bethlehem Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that average gas prices jumped 11 cents overnight to about $3.11 on Tuesday, March 3. Rising crude costs may bring higher pump prices to Bethlehem in the coming days.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • The state invested over $1 million to ready two Lehigh Valley sites for future jobs using PA SITES funds. Greystone Capital received $250,000 to plan a 54-acre industrial campus at Glendon and Eastupland Associates got $875,000 to prepare a Hanover Township site for demolition.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development
  • LVEDC will host its Annual Meeting on Mar. 17 at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, where a panel will explain how Lilly’s $3.5 billion manufacturing campus is set to create 850 jobs and over 2,000 construction roles. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • At Rathbone, Lehigh Dining is launching new sustainable practices by using real-time food-waste tracking and a hydroponic garden to grow herbs for dishes. The effort will adjust meal portions so excess food can be donated to local shelters.  The Brown and White

HEALTH NEWS

  • Moravian Academy head Adrianne Finley Odell shared Sleep Awareness Week tips on 69 News at Sunrise to help students sleep more. She noted that older students often get just 6.4 hours a night and advised parents to charge phones outside bedrooms (to cut blue light) and use alarm clocks.  WFMZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lizzie Bozza, the senior captain of the women’s lacrosse team, overcame a torn ACL with surgery and led her team with empathy during a coaching hiatus this season. She also volunteers through Community Outreach by Athletes Who Care and hosts the Wonderful World of Sports event at Broughal Middle School.  The Brown and White
