COMMUNITY NEWS

  • WFMZ-TV, in collaboration with Dorney Park and GIANT, will host the 10th annual Food Truck Food Drive at Dorney Park on Saturday, April 25, to raise 10,000 lbs of food for Second Harvest Food Bank. Attendees must bring non-perishable items to enjoy diverse food truck offerings.  WFMZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • PennDOT reported that a water line caused a sinkhole on the 2700 block of Newburg Road (Brentwood Avenue to Fischer Road) on Thursday, and repairs featuring flowable fill will begin early next week (with the roadway expected to reopen by mid- to late next week).  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • NSH USA has donated 320 cubic feet of industrial records plus photos and engineering drawings documenting American machine tool history from the late 1800s through World War II to the Industrial Archives and Library in Bethlehem, where the collection will soon be available for research.  Lehigh Valley Live

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Eli Lilly will build a $3.5B manufacturing hub in the Lehigh Valley, creating 850 jobs and 2,000 construction roles; construction starts this year and the plant will produce new drugs by 2029, as local leaders & regional partners secured the project.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Interfraternity Council and Lehigh’s chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi hosted a presentation at Packard Hall where members of Living Links discussed the Holocaust and rising antisemitism on campus. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • B. Braun Medical in Bethlehem announced it will switch all its U.S. facilities to 100% renewable electricity from 2026 to lower scope 1 and 2 emissions by over 30% and cut CO2e emissions by 50% by 2030. The company is also investing in clean energy technology.  WFMZ

  • Santander Arena is preparing to host professional bull riding soon, expecting to draw local fans + rodeo enthusiasts to the event. Further details will be shared as the event nears.  WFMZ
