- ➤ Bethlehem Area Public Library will hold its book sale on March 18 from noon to 8 p.m. and March 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its main branch on West Church Street, where visitors can browse books + DVDs + music to welcome spring. Bethlehem Press
- ➤ Riverbend Community Church hosted the annual Night to Shine event on Feb. 20 at the Delta by Marriott Hotel in Breinigsville. Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, special needs guests and volunteer buddies enjoyed dinner, dancing and other activities that celebrated community and inclusion. Bethlehem Press

- ➤ Former VA head Dr. David Shulkin resigned from OraSure Technologies’ board on March 2, as disclosed in an SEC filing (his departure was not linked to any board dispute), leaving six directors on the panel. WFMZ

- ➤ 9 to 5: The Musical will be staged at Theater, Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts (321 E. Third St.) in Bethlehem starting March 18, with shows at 7 p.m. on March 18–21 and 2 p.m. on March 22. Bethlehem Press
- ➤ The Judith Adele Agentis Charitable Foundation will present internationally acclaimed performer Ciarán Sheehan as the featured entertainer during its annual dinner benefit, High Notes, on Saturday, Mar. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Northampton Country Club in Easton — proceeds will support charitable initiatives including palliative care and cancer research. - ➤ Gov. Shapiro will join LVEDC’s Annual Meeting in Bethlehem on March 17 from 3:30-5 p.m. to celebrate the region’s largest life sciences investment by Eli Lilly (which will create construction and permanent jobs) with business and community leaders, while registration closes on March 12. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Liberty HS is deep in the second semester as students overcome snow delays to excel in academics, sports and community service. Seniors and teams broke records in basketball and music, and the school will hold a band concert March 27–28. Bethlehem Press
- ➤ Bethlehem Area SD has partnered with iTEC to launch a manufacturing pre-apprenticeship at Freedom and Liberty HS that uses a $200,000 grant to equip 27 students with hands-on training on tools like 3-D printers (boosting entry-level job prospects). Bethlehem Press
- ➤ Northwestern Lehigh School District discussed its 2026-2029 Future Ready Comprehensive Plan at its Feb. 18 meeting. Based on 1,500 survey responses and outlining three focus areas, the plan is open for public review until March 17 and will be voted on March 18 while the board approved retirements. Bethlehem Press

- ➤ Lower Saucon Township residents blocked an expansion of the landfill at 2335 Applebutter Road after a December 2025 court ruling upheld conservation easements. New anti-expansion council members replaced their pro-expansion predecessors, and the landfill may appeal the decision (further legal steps are expected). Bethlehem Press
- ➤ The Bethlehem Historic Conservation Commission tabled a demolition and new construction proposal for five historic buildings on South New Street at its Feb. 23 meeting at city hall, citing unsafe masonry. Modified plans for 305-307 E. Fourth Street and a fence at 1506 Calypso Ave were approved & processed separately. Bethlehem Press
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Former Bethlehem Steel FC and Philadelphia Union soccer player Derrick Jones and teammate Yaw Yeboah received lifetime bans from MLS on Monday after betting on games, including a Columbus Crew match where Jones earned a yellow card, although the league said there is no evidence the bets affected game outcomes.
