  • Jimmy John’s is set to open a new location this summer at Schoenersville Centre on Schoenersville Road—taking over the space previously used by A1 Steak House II, according to James Balliet of The James Balliet Property Group.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • FLSmidth Cement is turning a 122,000-square-foot warehouse at 740 Cesanek Road in Allen Township into a center that makes and sends out machines for moving cement with air — about 50 workers are on payroll now. They plan an opening celebration next month and the plant will be fully working by the end of the year.  WFMZ

CRIME NEWS

  • William Joseph Ortiz, 39, turned himself in to Palmer Township Police at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday after his girlfriend reported visible injuries from a bar fight in Bethlehem Township—he now faces charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Middle school students from Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties teamed up with local manufacturing companies to learn about the industry in the contest 'What's So Cool About Manufacturing,' which awarded 13 of 29 schools during an award ceremony at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena—four winning teams will represent the valley at the statewide competition in May. The contest judged entries on videography, creativity, editing, team spirit, brand, outreach and educational value and received over 203,000 votes.  WFMZ
  • On March 3, Lehigh Dining announced plans to close and relocate campus dining options, including Hillside Cafe which closed on March 7, and the changes sparked strong backlash from students. Chick-N-Bap will close at the end of the semester along with two other outlets before building renovations in fall + its CEO has already started looking for a new space in Bethlehem amid permit challenges.  The Brown and White

  • The Lehigh women’s basketball team ended the 2024-25 season by winning the Patriot League title with a 74-62 win (27-7 finish) over Army West Point on March 16. The team made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021 but lost to Duke (86-25) in the first round.  The Brown and White
