Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 30th of March.
Good morning, Bethlehem.
🎭 Culture
Loretta Hein, a 64-year-old tour guide, uses her father’s old hard hat—along with his brass check and work uniform—to share how he worked at Bethlehem Steel for 40 years.
Her tours bring his story and Bethlehem’s industrial legacy to life during Women’s History Month.
ArtsQuest announced that TacoFest will return to SteelStacks on June 1 from 1-6 p.m. in partnership with Cazadores Tequila and will feature taco vendors, live music, and local events.
The festival will include Margarita Madness — a ticketed sampling event starting at 1 p.m. — and a Chihuahua Beauty Contest at 2 p.m.
📰 Economy
Team Pennsylvania released a report on March 18 that analyzed Pennsylvania's agriculture sector from 2012 to 2022 and found that while crop and forestry processing jobs stayed flat, food and alcohol processing showed strong growth.
The study will help state officials shape future economic policy and spark local discussions on agriculture's role in the commonwealth.
🌲 Environment
A large skunk has been visiting a backyard bird feeder in the afternoon — unusual since skunks usually forage at dawn and dusk — and drinking from a heated bird bath.
Local residents say the behavior may be linked to mating habits as warmer weather takes hold.
