  • Local and national leaders toured the historic Crayola Manufacturing Factory in Forks Township today during a tax roundtable hosted by the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce + Crayola CEO Pete Ruggiero and Congressman Ryan Mackenzie explained how tax deductions could help companies reinvest and grow.  WFMZ

  • Local business owners report that rising gas prices nearing $4 per gallon are increasing transport and ingredient costs while reducing customer turnout. Restaurateurs and service companies hope pump prices ease soon to bring costs back to normal.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Traci Schanewolf, a sixth-grade science teacher at Northeast Middle School, has been chosen to join the Teacher Innovator Institute at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum this summer (a program that boosts museum-based STEAM learning).  WFMZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Institute Drive in the Totts Gap Conservation Area will be closed starting Tuesday, Mar. 31 through May 1 to protect migrating amphibians (frogs, toads, and salamanders) from being harmed by vehicles. Northampton County and Upper Mount Bethel Township plan the closure as part of ongoing conservation efforts.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT reported Monday morning delays on I-78 West when lane closures for line painting and patching slowed traffic (a sign of a busy spring construction season). Drivers are advised to plan ahead as work continues on I-78, Route 22, and Route 33.  WFMZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Redshirt sophomore Luke Stanich finished third at the NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championship on March 21 in Cleveland by beating Nebraska’s Brock Hardy 7–2 (as No. 5 seed at 141 lbs) and earned his second All-American honor. Five other Lehigh wrestlers qualified, marking an impressive season.  The Brown and White
