Good morning, Bethlehem. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 2nd of April.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Keystone Cement Company changed to work on its own under its new parent, Keystone Cement Holding, Inc., on April 1 — the company will keep running its three parts as part of Fortaleza Materiales Group. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio changed his office policy for unclaimed cremated remains held for decades by reaching out to families using a list of 14 decedents, some of whose remains were held for up to 37 years. He said anyone with information should contact his office since the remains will be returned at no cost and each case will be checked for possible veteran burial — offering a final resting option that respects family wishes.  WLVR
  • Bethlehem City Council said there will be no homeless encampment sweep after community members raised concerns during Tuesday's meeting over a notice stating that tents at Charlie's Circle near Minsi Trail Bridge would be marked as abandoned if not removed by April 3—this miscommunication raised fears among the unhoused—and city officials and police said they will improve communication with those affected.  WFMZ
  • Bethlehem Police Department will use a grant of up to $33,577 from the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to upgrade its intersection camera network — a move approved by Bethlehem City Council Tuesday night.
