  • Bethlehem is celebrating the Cherry Blossom Festival today—held at the Garden of Serenity on North New Street from noon to 4 p.m.  WFMZ

  • Business owner Manny Rodriguez opened his new dessert shop Wondaffle on March 21 at 307 E. Third St to serve waffles and ice cream to locals—he and co-owner Rick Pongracz offer liege and bubble waffles with dairy-free and gluten-free options and a flavor honoring former NBA player Darryl Dawkins. Local students and residents praise the modern, inviting space that adds a unique twist to Bethlehem’s dessert scene.  The Brown and White

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gasoline prices in Pennsylvania increased this week from $3.261 to $3.405 per gallon, with Lehigh Valley rates rising from $3.140 to $3.300, according to AAA. The rise — driven by refinery maintenance and the switch to summer-blend gasoline — placed the state among the nation’s priciest markets.  WLVR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High school students are taking part in the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Robotics Championships at Lehigh University this weekend, where over 2,000 students work to build robots for the contest. Sixty top teams from schools in Pennsylvania+New Jersey+Delaware will try to finish in the top 20 to advance to the international finals in Houston from April 16th to April 19th.  Lehigh Valley News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania deer hunters ended the 2024-25 season with 476,880 whitetails—marking the fourth-highest total ever and featuring archery hunters who surpassed firearms for buck harvest for the first time. Local hunters in WMU 5C took 7,700 antlered deer and 17,000 antlerless deer.  Lehigh Valley Live

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting April 6 at 8 p.m., the Pennsylvania Turnpike will begin milling and repaving work at the Lehigh Tunnel, causing lane shifts that leave one lane open in each direction. The northbound tunnel will remain closed until 6 a.m. on April 9 and the southbound tunnel will shut from April 13 at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on April 16—traffic will resume its normal flow after the work is completed.  WFMZ
