ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On April 5th, a crash on I-78 in Lower Saucon Township injured two drivers when a 51-year-old Toyota Corolla driver drifted out of his lane and hit a Freightliner that overturned onto its side—both drivers were taken to hospitals for treatment.  WFMZ

  • Tonya Johnson, known as Mama B and mother of Saquon Barkley, opened a resale boutique on East Fourth Street in Bethlehem that sells gently worn clothing from her family.   • Former Bethlehem police officer Steven Marshall, aged 62, was riding his motorcycle in North Myrtle Beach when an SUV struck him at 1:30 p.m. Friday — he died five hours later and driver Kayla Tisdale now faces DUI, child endangerment and hit-and-run charges.  WFMZ

  • ArtsQuest in Bethlehem hosted Music Industry Day Monday to give students a behind-the-scenes look at music careers. Students from 11 high schools learned about booking shows, promoting events, and music programming—organizers plan to offer the event in future years.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bethlehem Area School District will hold a final walkthrough at Fountain Hill Elementary—located at 1330 Church St—so former students and neighbors can say goodbye to the 95-year-old building before demolition begins this summer. The district will rebuild the school into an 85,000-square-foot facility for 500 students as they have their last in-person day on June 2.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local reporter Brad Klein reported that confirmation hearings scheduled for Wednesday will decide whether Jared Isaacman becomes the next head of NASA — a well-known Lehigh Valley figure who founded Shift4 and flew on commercial spaceflights — with 28 former astronauts publicly supporting his nomination.  Lehigh Valley News

  • Junior catcher Owen Walewander became Lehigh baseball’s primary catcher after senior Andrew Noone graduated, posting a .277 average and hitting his second home run during a March 22 doubleheader against Holy Cross.
