BUSINESS NEWS

  • OraSure reached an agreement with activist investor Altai Capital Management and named John Bertrand as an independent director, effective immediately in Bethlehem. The board will hold regular meetings with Altai while the company plans to seek shareholder approval to declassify board terms.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ricky Montgomery headlined the annual spring concert hosted by University Productions on Saturday, Apr. 18 at a local venue, where he deviated from his setlist and engaged fans with song and giveaways.   • On Saturday, the Lehigh Valley Punk Rock Flea Market featured over 50 vendors, artists, and live music at the Ice House in Bethlehem. The pet-friendly event presented by Tape Swap Radio drew a large crowd and had sold-out items at the Cactus Blue Mexican food truck (a favorite vendor).  The Brown and White

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a Q&A session Friday in the Health, Science and Technology building, the Student Senate—led by newly elected president Drew Smith—outlined proposed changes including consolidated committees, revised club funding allocations, and adjusted executive roles (despite low student turnout near the end of the semester).  The Brown and White
  • Lehigh University has launched a new Forest Park trail+ a first step in its sustainability initiative to offer expanded outdoor access to students and local residents near campus.  WFMZ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Bethlehem Historic Conservation Commission approved the demolition of several historic structures on South New Street for a new seven-story mixed-use building with retail and 42 apartments. The plan removes the Italianate façade due to high integration costs and final design details will be reviewed later.  WFMZ
