  • Local events this week include the Bethlehem Garden Club’s free Open House meeting Wednesday, April 29 at Advent Moravian Church with presenter Jessie Duke, the 19th season opening of Bethlehem Farmers Market Thursday at Farrington Square, and Live in the Garden concerts beginning Saturday, May 9 in the Rose Garden.  Bethlehem Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • USA Today announced that Bethlehem’s Main Street was named the best in the nation for the second year on April 21 + local leaders say the recognition highlights the district’s vibrant mix of shops and eateries that attract visitors year-round.  Bethlehem Press
  • Free music festival No Planet B Jamboree returns at 2 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 25 at the Town Square Community Stage outside ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. The event offers a 5K fun run, eco-friendly vendors and a speech by Mayor Reynolds on the city's Climate Action Plan.  Lehigh Valley News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Eli Lilly will build a $3.5 billion manufacturing campus in Upper Macungie along Interstate 78 after years of local planning. Pennsylvania will offer $100 million in incentives and the project is expected to create 850 local jobs and about 2,000 construction positions.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development
  • Jaime Whalen, executive vice president at LVEDC (the nonprofit driving local economic growth), was named one of PA’s Top Women in Leadership at a gala in Philadelphia on March 31. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Matthew Wells, Artistic Director of Instrumental Music at Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts, was named Nouryon All-Pro Teacher of the Year at an awards ceremony held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. He was one of ten educators honored for his excellence in teaching & community impact.  Bethlehem Press
  • Bethlehem Area Public Library will host indoor book sales at its Main Library basement on May 13 and May 16 (noon to 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. respectively) with 50 shoppers at a time. Other branches offer programs including story time, homework help and yoga for adults.  Bethlehem Press
  • Bethlehem area students earned a spot on Muhlenberg College’s fall 2025 dean’s list by achieving a GPA of 3.5+ while taking three or more course units. The list includes graduates from local high schools like Freedom HS, Salisbury HS and Notre Dame HS.  Bethlehem Press

  • The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission raised questions about Prologis' plan to convert an existing warehouse in Allen Township into a data center & will review issues including water service, lighting, noise and electrical demand at a virtual meeting on Thursday, Apr. 23 at 7 p.m.  WFMZ
  • On April 1, the Historical and Architectural Review Board at city hall’s Rotunda approved a certificate for homeowners Nicolai Lesko and David Lisk to replace an aluminum and vinyl fence at 449 Linden St. with a red brick garden wall and wood gate matching historic details, pending a council vote.  Bethlehem Press
