- ➤ A new public hiking trail has opened in Forest Park at Lehigh University, allowing residents to explore land that was previously restricted. The trail features distance signage and separate entrances for students on Sayre Park Road and the public at South Mountain Park—covering about a half mile. WFMZ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Emmaus Arts Commission hosts the 21st annual Student Film Festival at Emmaus Theatre on Sunday at 2 p.m, where middle and high school filmmakers will showcase films themed (Metamorphosis); participants get free entry, while tickets cost $5 for seniors and students and $7 for adults. WFMZ

- ➤ The Student Senate at Lehigh did not approve a trial period for a Turning Point USA chapter after several rounds of debate & concerns about the application process. The club may reapply in the future as its president files an appeal with the Dean of Students. The Brown and White
- ➤ Pre-school students in Lehigh County are learning about construction safety and truck operations with Butz workers as part of a STEM curriculum that introduces them to potential career paths. WFMZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bethlehem South Nursing and Rehab hosted a tree-planting event at its rose garden, working with the Urban Forestry Bureau to plant trees that will clean the air, provide shade and shelter for wildlife. Residents felt excited + purposeful as they celebrated Earth Day. WFMZ
- ➤ A local non-profit operates its Opp Shop thrift store to boost sustainability by recycling donated items for community needs. The shop in Muhlenberg Twp diverts over 1 million pounds of waste from landfills + repurposes donations for immediate use. WFMZ
- ➤ Bethlehem preschoolers at Chesterbrook Academy released 1,500 ladybugs and planted seasonal vegetables today to learn about caring for nature, while Bethlehem South Nursing and Rehab dedicated a tree; Northampton County Community College will host an Earth Day festival on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. WFMZ
