- ➤ Nearly 657 student athletes competed in the Special Olympics event at BASD Stadium (next to Liberty High) on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., representing BASD, Easton, and Saucon Valley school districts. - ➤ Pottstown’s Sly Fox Brewing and Bethlehem’s Pivo Nova joined forces to launch Soul Tone Beer, a 2.5% ABV brew that offers full craft flavor with lower alcohol. The beer is available now at select bars + retailers across the Lehigh Valley. Lehigh Valley Live
- ➤ J’s Steaks and Subs at 1830 Main St. in Northampton Borough will close on May 30, ending over four decades of affordable service known for steak sandwiches and more. The sub chain once operated more than 50 locations across the region. Lehigh Valley Live

- ➤ Semicolon Books, a new community-oriented bookstore, opened recently in the lower level of Main Street Commons. - ➤ Oyu-Erdene Ankhbayar from Lehigh gained confidence through campus work and research while overcoming language and cultural challenges. She will begin a fully funded Ph.D. program in genetics and biostatistics at Case Western Reserve after graduating in May. The Brown and White
- ➤ Bethlehem Area School District students used a marketing class project to select performers for Musikfest, ArtsQuest said. Selected acts from two high schools will take the stage at Plaza Tropical on Saturday, Aug. 1. WFMZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Pennsylvania Health Department has allocated $12.3 million to expand care and access for pregnant women statewide using funds combined with work of several coalitions—supporting blood pressure screenings, transportation access, and education. An extra $7.5 million is proposed in the next operating budget to further improve maternal health outcomes. WFMZ
