ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ PPL Electric told its customers that starting June 1, their electric bills will go up nearly 16% as residential rates increase from 10.77 to 12.49 cents per kilowatt hour and small business rates also rise. The increase comes because older power plants are retiring and there is little new power, and PPL advises using cost-saving tools and checking for other suppliers (PTC means price-to-compare rates). - ➤ Lehigh University will mark 50 years of co-ed graduations when women in the class of 2025 receive their diplomas on May 18—continuing a legacy that began with 169 female graduates in 1975.
