COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On May Day, May 1, about 250 workers and supporters marched along South Bethlehem Greenway and across Fahy Bridge to rally at the United Steelworkers union hall on South Lehigh Street in a demonstration for worker rights. The march emphasized calls for workplace equality and stronger job protections—when we fight, we win.  WLVR

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded on Friday to a fire at the Five 10 Flats apartment building on E. Third Street in South Bethlehem—thick smoke and big flames traveled fast from the roof—forcing 135 residents to leave and affecting shops on the ground floor as repairs and an investigation are planned.  WFMZ

CRIME NEWS

  • Northampton County District Attorney Baratta announced the arrest of 51-year-old Robert Birch and Cittdata Jarnagan after a January 16 Wind Creek sting uncovered human trafficking, and both now face multiple felony charges — Birch is charged with involuntary servitude and drug paraphernalia possession while Jarnagan faces charges including prostitution and theft by deception — and both await arraignment.  WFMZ
  • Bethlehem woman Amy Richline was convicted on 13 counts of theft by unlawful taking and 13 counts of deceptive business practices—she stole more than $35,000 from at least 15 clients over several years and faces a sentencing hearing on July 16 after bail was set at $75,000.  WFMZ
