CRIME NEWS

  • The Lehigh County coroner confirmed that Timothy Vanbilliard, 45 from Emmaus died after a police incident near 1500 N. Cedar Crest Blvd in South Whitehall Township—he was pronounced dead at 2:59 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest while investigators continue their work.  WFMZ

  • LVEDC was reaccredited by the International Economic Development Council after a thorough review showed its strong ability to attract talent, boost business, and redevelop old industrial sites. The nonprofit, one of only 87 to meet the standards, has led a group of public & private partners for over 30 years & helped grow the region’s economy.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

  • The Bethlehem Police Department honored its top officers at an award ceremony. Lieutenant Michael DiLuzio was named 2024 Police Supervisor of the Year — Officer Alex Perez received Police Officer of the Year and Officer Arvin Flores earned Support Services Officer of the Year for their outstanding leadership and service.  WFMZ
  • Bethlehem Area School District’s board approved a proposed 2025-26 budget with a 4.3% property tax hike and a $5.9M fund drawdown that brings the total plan to $373.5M, as voted on Monday, May 13. The board will vote on the final budget on June 9—more changes are expected as revenue and spending plans adjust.  Lehigh Valley News

  • On May 12, Liberty High School's baseball team scored four in the final inning to win a 6–5 walk-off victory over Nazareth at DeSales University’s Weiland Park, advancing to the EPC final.
