  • The Bethlehem Area Public Library held a book sale Wednesday from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. featuring 20,000 items like books, comics, vinyl records and puzzles and will hold another sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who missed it.  WFMZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Natural Lands on May 13 permanently preserved a 7.27-acre property on Gun Club Road in Lynn Township and transferred it to the Pennsylvania Game Commission as part of State Game Lands 217 — a move aimed at protecting forested habitats along Blue Mountain’s Kittatinny Ridge and preserving scenic views for Appalachian Trail users. Commission officials said an existing opening may be improved as a parking area for visitors.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Natural Lands announced that it permanently preserved a 7.27-acre property in Lynn Township as part of the Kittatinny Ridge Conservation Landscape, a designated Important Bird Area. The parcel was transferred to the PA Game Commission+which will boost wildlife protection and access to PA State Game Lands No. 217.  WFMZ

  • LVAC, a local wrestling promotion that blends punk flair and charity, will host its High School Hang Out event at Freedom High School on May 17 at 7 p.m. Local wrestler Dan Champion will face masked Ultramantis Black in a match that raises funds for Special Olympics PA’s Team Bethlehem — adding a community benefit to an athletic event.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Allison McPeek, Parkland’s head coach in her third year, was named Swimming Coach of the Year as her girls earned a sixth straight District 11 title and her boys ended Emmaus’s 16-title streak.
