  • Bethlehem Area School District has selected Philadelphia educator Renato M. Lajara as its new superintendent after a national search. Pending board approval, he will succeed Jack P. Silva, who retires on June 30, and he brings over 20 years of public education experience.  Lehigh Valley Live

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A heat advisory remained in effect until 8 p.m. EDT yesterday in Lehigh County (which includes Bethlehem) and nearby areas, with officials warning residents to stay hydrated as heat indexes neared 95 degrees before showers ended the early season heat.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State funding of $828,767 was approved at the Commonwealth Financial Authority board meeting (Wednesday morning) to improve pedestrian pathways for students in Salisbury Twp and support additional projects in Lehigh and Northampton counties.  WFMZ
