  • Flying Spur Trail Rides opened its doors this month to offer guided horseback rides for all skill levels. The family-owned business runs hour-long tours on 50-acre trails on Route 145 in Laurys Station, 15 minutes north of the Lehigh Valley Mall.  Lehigh Valley Live

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bucks County comic artist Scott Hanna will join two events for fans as Fan Expo in Philadelphia unfolds at May end and the Lehigh Valley Comic Convention is set for June — the latter includes a Cosplay contest with cash prizes and certificates.  WFMZ
  • The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum hosted its History Expo on Saturday to celebrate America's 250th birthday — featuring booths from more than a dozen local historical groups, a colonial re-enactment, a Beatles tribute band and an appearance by former Lassie actor Jon Provost.  WFMZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission announced that starting June 1, utilities will raise electric generation rates, ranging from 1.5% for some PPL Electric customers to nearly 20% for Pike County Light & Power subscribers (business rates vary). The commission urged consumers to review energy use ahead of peak cooling needs.  Lehigh Valley Live

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • After three years of work, developers prepared land near the Two T’s mini-golf course for a 25-home Habitat for Humanity project in Forks Township. Future homeowners must complete 250 hours of sweat equity as final plans for parcels (3408, 3502, and 3506 Kesslersville Road) will be provided soon.  Lehigh Valley Live
