  • Bethlehem’s American Legion Post 379 will retire 20,000 American flags on Flag Day Saturday near 8th Avenue and Schoenersville Road. Community members may bring flags at 6 p.m. as the ceremony continues at 7 p.m. with a fire lit while seven riflemen fire three volleys and a live rendition of Taps is played (signifying duty, honor, and country).  WFMZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • United Natural Foods Inc. will close its Schnecksville distribution center and cut 716 jobs, with layoffs starting Aug. 12 and continuing through Oct. 18. Township officials in North Whitehall are reviewing the impact on local taxes and revenue — more details will be provided soon.  WLVR

  • Federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security searched for an immigration violator in the 500 block of East Third Street near the Five10 Flats restoration project early Wednesday & Bethlehem police and EMS responded to a medical emergency with no arrests made.  Lehigh Valley Live

  • Bachman Turner Overdrive—revived for its 50th anniversary by founder Randy Bachman—is set to perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 23 at Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem. Blue Öyster Cult will open the show while tickets from $59.50 to $129.50 go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wind Creek website and box office at 77 Wind Creek Blvd.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Retired WFMZ-TV anchor Rob Vaughn was named a 2025 Silver Circle honoree by NATAS for his three decades of service anchoring local news. His induction will be celebrated at the 43rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards on September 20 — an honor given to broadcasters with at least 25 years of dedicated work.  WFMZ

  • Bethlehem Public Works Director Michael Alkhal said utility work on Main and East Third streets is forcing drivers to take detours and will finish by Friday, June 13. PPL has completed its menhole repair at Main and Market streets while UGI’s service-line renewal and nearby projects may continue—officials explained.  WLVR
