  • Bethlehem received $1.45M in state funds for a new family emergency shelter—ICE agents arrested 17 workers yesterday amid immigration enforcement concerns. A new eatery, Bethlehem Barrel & Drafthouse, is set to open soon offering elevated pub fare and specialty drinks.  WFMZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Moravian University’s student-run investment club won first place in the Core Portfolio Competition at the Quinnipiac G.A.M.E. Forum in New York City — posting a 44% year-to-date growth that beat clubs from Harvard, Yale and MIT. The team now plans to share its strategies with youth groups and lower socioeconomic areas to help build long-term wealth.  WFMZ
  • Bethlehem Barrel and Drafthouse will open this summer on the lower level of the outlets in the space that once served as the temporary hotel lobby during Wind Creek Bethlehem’s expansion. Aramark Sports & Entertainment will run the restaurant that will serve state-based whiskeys, local craft beers and specialty menu items near the entrance.  Lehigh Valley Live

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania House passed a bill to end the Sunday hunting ban with a vote of 131 to 72 and sent it to the Senate for review; if approved, the bill will allow the Game Commission to set hunting dates during the upcoming legislative session (it is identical to the Senate bill introduced by Sen.   • Bethlehem has received $1.45 million from state funds to convert a South Bethlehem apartment building into an 11-unit emergency family shelter with private living spaces. City officials said the funding fills a gap noted in May, allowing design and repair work to begin soon at the West Packer Avenue property donated by a nonprofit — rehabilitation is expected to take about a year.  WFMZ
