  • Shift4, headquartered in Upper Saucon Township, signed an agreement to acquire Smartpay—a payment processing and point-of-sale company serving Australia and New Zealand—in a deal valued at NZD 296.4 million, about $180 million. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025 subject to regulatory approvals.  WFMZ
  • Yesterday, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its second golf outing at Woodstone Country Club in Northampton County as local business owners networked under hot skies, and tonight at 6 p.m. during a dinner the Chamber will announce that Yamelisa Jimenez Taveras becomes Board Chair starting July 1 — the first time the executive leadership is entirely female.  WFMZ
  • In South Whitehall, local HVAC companies reported increased service calls after extreme heat caused several air conditioners to fail earlier this week—technicians said that changing clogged air filters for $8 to $10 can help avoid costly $99-$109 service appointments.  WFMZ

  • Bethlehem Police are investigating a shooting near Yosko Park that occurred Tuesday night around 7:45 p.m. in the 600 block of Atlantic St—no injuries were reported and no arrests were made.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • In This Moment, the hard rock band with five chart-topping albums, will perform at Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27 and the show is the final Pennsylvania stop on a 23-date tour that began Sept. 18 in Johnstown — guest bands include Dayseeker, The Funeral Portrait and DED.  WLVR

  • On Tuesday, the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission Environment Committee approved staff comments on the $300M regional wastewater plan and sent the Hazard Mitigation Plan to the full commission for review—community input and updated cost analysis helped shape a draft Regional Climate Action Plan that is set for EPA submission later this summer.  Lehigh Valley News

  • Area doctors are urging residents to stay hydrated and check on children and seniors as the region faces an extreme heat warning through today — noting that vague symptoms like nausea and fatigue may quickly turn into serious heat-related illnesses.
