- ➤ Bethlehem community radio station WDIY faces a $200,000 funding gap if Congress passes a bill that cuts $1.1 billion allocated to the CPB, which provides about 15% of its operating budget for NPR programming and music licensing. The nonprofit's executive director said the station might rely on its reserves for a year—more support is needed to secure its long-term operations. WLVR

- ➤ Dutch low-flow control company Bronkhorst High-Tech expanded its Bethlehem facility on June 24 to serve as its main sales, service and assembly center for the Americas—doubling its space and planning to hire about 30 new workers. The facility at 1550 Valley Center Parkway will help the company support customers in areas like car parts, food and drinks, and chemicals. WLVR

- ➤ Today, ¡Sabor! Latin Festival begins at SteelStacks to honor Puerto Rican culture with a free screening of 'Our Latin Thing' at 7 p.m. at Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema and music events scheduled through Saturday. On Friday, a flag-raising ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. on the Community Stage while Philadelphia-based Celeste La Fiera delivers an 8 p.m. tribute to Celia Cruz — the Salsa Queen from Bethlehem’s sold-out 1998 Musikfest—and local vendors serve Latin dishes. - ➤ Lehigh County commissioners delayed a vote on a contract for health services for inmates to allow for further discussion on stronger oversight language with PrimeCare Medical Inc— the four-year deal runs from Aug. 1 to July 31 and includes an added $500K for mental health care. They also approved $135K in opioid settlement funds for local services and passed a resolution to introduce a new canine for explosives detection in the sheriff’s department. WFMZ
- ➤ Northampton County confirmed Christopher Zieger as its new sheriff on June 18th—he spent 30 years with the department and served as acting sheriff after former Sheriff Richard H. Johnston retired in August 2024. Zieger is a Muhlenberg College graduate with training from the U.S. Marshals Service and FBI—county officials say he now leads the sheriff’s office with strong professionalism. Lehigh Valley Live
