  • Filter King will open a 61,600-square-foot facility in Bethlehem Township’s Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VI—its new center will create up to 120 jobs in manufacturing, logistics, and administration. The expansion will let the company serve 90% of the U.S. population within three days and marks its second U.S. site launch in 2025.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country music star Darius Rucker will headline Musikfest 2025 on Aug. 3 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage with gates opening at 6 p.m. The festival runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 10 and is sponsored by Capital Blue Cross — Yuengling Light Lager.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Zoellner Arts Center will open its 2025-26 season with The Bacon Brothers performing on Sept. 7 and Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience on Sept. 12. The venue at 420 E. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Five major manufacturing investments in early 2025 will add over 335,000 square feet of space and up to 276 jobs to the Lehigh Valley—expansions include Bronkhorst USA moving to a larger facility in Hanover Township, Filter King opening a new 61,600-square-foot center in Bethlehem Township, FLSmidth Cement building a 122,000-square-foot plant in Allen Township, Kervan USA constructing a $20 million plant in Bethlehem and Lower Nazareth townships, and Myers Emergency launching a new 50,000-square-foot battery systems plant in Bethlehem Township.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation will host the 7th Annual Internship Summit on July 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at DeSales University + local colleges and partners will share strategies for starting and growing internship programs and exploring artificial intelligence's role; keynote speaker Carly Chase, a professor and vice president at U.S. News & World Report, will present her research + interested attendees must register by July 18.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Flood watches were in effect overnight in parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey due to heavy rain that caused flash flooding in low-lying areas—especially in Lehigh County. Officials advised residents to monitor weather updates and follow local instructions for any further flash flood warnings.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Shapiro signed five new outdoor laws this summer to change how hunting and fishing work in the state. One law ends the ban on Sunday hunting and takes effect in 60 days while the others—making veteran fishing licenses easier to get, adjusting the boating board and setting a plan for abandoned boats—update outdoor rules.  Lehigh Valley Live
