- ➤ Bethlehem has received funding to close one of Pennsylvania's top trail gaps by connecting the South Bethlehem Greenway to the Saucon Rail Trail, with plans finalized for an old railroad section near the greenway. Construction is scheduled for 2026 to complete the network of local multi-use trails — a key link from Hellertown to Coopersburg. Lehigh Valley Live
- ➤ Wildlands Conservancy held its summer camp at Camp Olympic Park at 3120 S. Cedar Crest Blvd where 72 young campers hiked from a bus drop-off to the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary after the bridge collapsed in late April at 3701 Orchid Place while a propane truck was crossing it. Officials said they are exploring a temporary bridge that will take about six weeks to install—while a full replacement will take about six months—to restore public access as repairs continue. - ➤ The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission raised concerns at its Tuesday meeting about Atlas Industrial’s plan for a 350,400-square-foot building at 799 Smith Lane in Northampton Borough, where Greenstar Recycling once stood. Members said the unclear plans—whether the facility will serve as a warehouse, manufacturing facility or fulfillment center—pose safety and road-signage challenges that need to be addressed. WLVR
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie held his second telephone town hall on Wednesday night in Bethlehem to answer local residents' questions on his votes for key tax and spending measures. His call followed a March event that drew over 6,000 participants — and came as tensions rose over the release of information on Jeffrey Epstein. WLVR
- ➤ Bethlehem received $3.7 million in grants to upgrade the South Bethlehem Greenway Trail Extension, Linden Street Two-Way Conversion and Broad Street Multimodal Project as part of a plan to improve the city's transit network — work that will move to design and engineering stages before construction begins in 2026. The grants include $500,000 for the trail extension, $1.8 million for converting Linden Street to two-way traffic and $1.4 million for Broad Street enhancements — projects aimed at easing congestion and boosting safety.
