CRIME NEWS

  • Bethlehem Police made 17 arrests at Musikfest this year—down from 28 last year—and reported that public drunkenness and disorderly conduct remained the top offenses during the festival.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Aug. 24, the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra will perform its final Valley Vivaldi Concert No. 3 at 7 p.m. at Wesley Church—2540 Center St. in Bethlehem—showing music by Haydn, Leclair, Telemann, C.P.E. Bach and Vivaldi with a special harpsichord part in J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5.  Bethlehem Press
  • On August 13, 2025, Historic Hotel Bethlehem celebrated being named one of USA Today's 10Best Historic Hotels/Resorts for the fifth consecutive year—an honor that points to its deep roots in our Moravian heritage—while staff and guests joined in the festivities. This win builds on the hotel's long history of hosting famous guests and boosting Bethlehem tourism.  WLVR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Teachers, parents and staff at Donegan Elementary in Bethlehem walked in eight teams — delivering book bags donated by Skanska and goodies — to welcome nearly 100 incoming kindergarteners as they prepare for school on Aug. 25.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bethlehem Planning Commission supported converting Linden Street from one-way to two-way traffic after a meeting held Thursday night. The $2 million project, funded by the Transportation Improvement Plan and a carbon reduction plan, will include restriping, added turn lanes, and three new traffic signals—improving circulation and access.  WFMZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Bucks County resident became critically ill from West Nile virus in early August and was treated at St. Luke's University Health Network in Fountain Hill. This case marks the first confirmed human infection in the Lehigh Valley for 2025— the patient is recovering.  Lehigh Valley Live

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On August 14th, the Bethlehem Historic Architectural Review Board did not vote on a proposed seven‐story mixed‐use building on West Walnut Street after concerns were raised over its height in the Historic District—Larken Associates may return later with changes to address these issues. Local figures such as Historic Hotel Bethlehem’s Bruce Haines voiced worries that the tall building may alter the district’s skyline.  WLVR
