Good morning, Bethlehem.
🎓 Education
Carpentry students from Lehigh Career & Technical Institute recently fabricated and installed a Smokey Bear fire prevention sign for Lynn Township; they honed their skills last November by building a footbridge at Ontelaunee Park (an achievement that strengthens local community projects).
🌲 Environment
Fothergilla, or witch alder, adds four-season appeal to gardens with white spring blooms, blue-green summer leaves, and vibrant fall color in moist, well-drained acidic soil.
Gardeners can choose between large and dwarf types, as noted by the Lehigh County Extension Office (for local guidance).
🏥 Health
St. Luke’s University Health Network is treating two children with measles in Lehigh County as Pennsylvania’s confirmed cases climb to 202 this year.
Health officials stress that vaccination protects children and urge parents with unvaccinated kids to contact their pediatrician.
