COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Game Commission made 1.3 million antlerless deer licenses available so hunters can donate extra deer to the Hunters Sharing the Harvest program to feed those in need. The program already processed record amounts of venison and asks hunters to drop off their field-dressed deer at local processors—helping secure food for families and manage deer herds.  Lehigh Valley Live

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Lehigh Valley Meet the Buyers will be held Sept. 23 at Lehigh Valley International Airport and will bring together over 100 companies and government agencies to strengthen local supply chains—creating new opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development
  • United Airlines is winding down its bus service from Lehigh Valley International Airport to Newark Liberty International on Sept. 1—Trans-Bridge Lines in Bethlehem will add two new bus runs and resume service to Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne starting Monday, Sept. 8.  WFMZ
  • Trans-Bridge Lines announced it will add Newark Airport runs and restore Cape Liberty Cruise Port service starting Sept. 8—filling a gap left after United Airlines ended bus service. The Bethlehem-based company said these new routes will offer locals reliable travel options.  Lehigh Valley Live

CRIME NEWS

  • Colonial Regional police are searching for 32-year-old Tyler Anthony Gualano who went missing from Hanover Township on July 16 after showing erratic behavior, and they believe he may be near Fourth and Allen in Allentown—anyone with information should call Det. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. won three Excellence in Economic Development Awards on August 26—receiving Gold for its Annual Report and Commercial Real Estate Report and Bronze for its Talent Strategies Initiative. LVEDC competed against top organizations globally, and its leaders said the awards reflect strong efforts to boost the local economy.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission reviewed Commonwealth Charter Academy’s plan to convert a 46,670-square-foot building at 2200 W. Broad St. in Bethlehem into office space for teachers and staff (the proposal calls for interior renovations, structural repairs and eco-friendly upgrades like green roofs and solar panels).  WFMZ
  • Albright College said in a recent budget update that it is on better footing—reversing a significant operating deficit reported over a year ago.  WFMZ
