  • Mid-November, the Lehigh Valley will welcome its first indoor Pickleball Kingdom in Whitehall—owner Chris Monteith and club director Colleen Van Ee plan to offer 14 pickleball courts, event rooms and a pro shop in a 60,000-square-foot facility. The space will serve players of all skill levels and may feature a cafe or food truck nights to boost the drive for year-round play.  Lehigh Valley News

  • El Jefe’s Taqueria reopened on Saturday after closing on May 2 due to a fire at the Five 10 Flats building caused by a discarded cigarette. The owner renovated the restaurant—using business interruption insurance to keep staff paid—and welcomed a long line of customers as neighboring spots remain under construction.  The Brown and White
  • Edwing Joseph learned tailoring from his father in Haiti and now runs his family shop on Bethlehem’s North Side on Linden Street, offering custom fittings from jeans to suits. CRIME NEWS

  • The trial for Dennis Allen Yenser Jr.—charged with selling drugs that led to a 19-year-old’s overdose death in North Whitehall Township—begins today at 9:30 a.m. as prosecutors present evidence of his role in the fatal sale.  WFMZ
  • Police in Bethlehem said a man was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI after a two-vehicle crash on Stefko Boulevard Sunday just before 1 a.m.—a vehicle ran a red light and struck another turning from Pembroke Road as a woman received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local music fans in the Lehigh Valley will enjoy 15 concerts this September at venues including the PPL Center and local halls in Bethlehem and Allentown; headlining acts include Papa Roach and Ziggy Marley and offer a mix of rock, country, and reggae.   • A free block party will be held Saturday, Sept.6 from noon to 7 p.m. in Center City Bethlehem to celebrate the city’s UNESCO World Heritage designation with music, tours, and a traditional Moravian Lovefeast—activities that include unveiling a commemorative plaque and mural. The event also marks the public debut of Dr. Katherine Faull as Bethlehem's first World Heritage Site Manager who will plan new cultural programs.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Country band Old Dominion will perform at the PPL Center on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $49.70 to $187.95—lead singer Matthew Ramsey said the group aims to connect with fans by sharing songs from their new album Barbara.  Lehigh Valley News

  • This fall, Lehigh will offer upperclassmen a new Classical Education themed housing community in House 84—formerly the Chi Psi house terminated in December 2024—designed for students interested in literature, debate, and the liberal arts. The renovated house has filled its 25 spots for the 2025–26 school year and will host events like monthly dinners and weekly literary discussions.  The Brown and White

  • Lehigh Football defeated Richmond at Goodman Stadium on August 31 by a score of 21-14 with 4,463 fans in attendance. The team recorded 135 passing yards and 35 rushing yards (details from the home opener) as they marked their first win of the season.  The Brown and White
