- ➤ Bill Lippincott, a Navy veteran from Center Valley with a leg amputation, spent the end of summer learning to surf in California at a national sports clinic hosted by the Veterans Administration—he finally found his balance and felt like he won the lottery. WFMZ
- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank in East Allen Township has struggled to secure fresh produce for its clients after federal funding cuts at the end of July. It began a spring partnership with America's Grow-A-Row— a 423-acre nonprofit farm from New Jersey— to help feed the 110,000 people it serves each month in the Lehigh Valley. WFMZ

- ➤ Morgan Freeman will present his Symphonic Blues Experience at Zoellner Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12th—sold out with a waitlist available as the show blends young blues musicians with a symphonic orchestra and Freeman’s narration on the history of the blues. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ On Sept. 13, Bethlehem’s sister city commission will host free concerts to mark 80 years since WWII ended and celebrate its bond with Tondabayashi—events include a peace mural unveiling with Japanese taiko drumming at Payrow Plaza at 1 p.m., a peace concert at the Bethlehem Area Public Library from 1:30 to 4 p.m., and the Strings of Hope multimedia performance at Congregation Brith Sholom at 8 p.m. Lehigh Valley News

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lackawanna College plans to open a satellite center for skilled trades in Bethlehem in spring 2026. The 42,000 square foot facility will offer courses in welding + fabrication, carpentry, and electrical technology to meet local workforce needs. WFMZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking local residents to report sick or dead deer as EHD has been confirmed in four northwestern counties and tests in other areas are pending — officials say the virus, spread by midges, causes fever, swelling and death in white-tailed deer. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lehigh County commissioner Zach Cole-Borghi was arrested on drug charges at Bethlehem City Hall last month and denied selling drugs while saying he will not resign as he waits for due process—supporters and critics of his role have also voiced their opinions. WFMZ

- ➤ The Liberty High School boys soccer team won its third straight game over the Nazareth Blue Eagles on Sept. 10, 2025 with goals from senior Chris Santos and junior Brody Hunsberger that improved their record to 6-1.
