- ➤ Spotlight PA is studying a plan to create a community newsroom in Lehigh Valley—this six-month project led by Bethlehem resident Megan Beste will include listening sessions and surveys with local residents to assess news needs. WFMZ
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ B. Braun announced plans to invest $20 million to upgrade its 710,000 square foot facility in Hanover Township and build a new workforce training center — a project that will add 200 full-time jobs over the next three years while keeping 1,700 current positions. The project received $1.5 million in state funding and will boost production of infusion therapy and pharmacy admixture products. Lehigh Valley Live
- ➤ The Barbecue Boys restaurant opened in Southside Bethlehem on Sept 16th at 306 S. New St.—run by local brothers Andrew and Dean Zannakis, it now serves fast-casual barbecue with custom meal options for students and local diners. The eatery is open until midnight on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and until 3 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ Nearly three years after a fire damaged its original restaurant, family-run Paranormal Pizza is nearing completion of its new location at 125 E. Third St. on Bethlehem’s South Side and will welcome customers in the coming months. The eatery will feature a dark, Gothic theme — with church pew seating and paranormal decor — as it prepares to open this fall. WFMZ

- ➤ ArtsQuest announced that the 33rd annual Christkindlmarkt will open Nov. 14 and run Fridays through Sundays until Nov. 30 then Thursdays through Sundays from Dec. 4 until Dec. 21 in South Bethlehem. This expanded holiday market will offer Winter Wonderland, a new stage, more vendor booths and family zones—though the ice rink will not return after last year’s fatal fall. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ A converted biologic testing facility at 1885 W. Market St. in West Bethlehem is now a world-class recording studio called The Foundry that recorded local musician Kati Kuss on Sept 17. The studio plans to fill a void for musicians in the Lehigh Valley — offering a modern space for music production. Lehigh Valley Live
- ➤ Best-selling author Nathan Pyle visited schools Thursday to discuss his new children's book 'Tuck Me In' that teaches kids how the moon affects tides. He is signing books today at the DaVinci Science Center—using a model of the moon to show its distance from Earth. WFMZ

- ➤ Lehigh’s Steel Bridge Team is training for the national championship by sharpening welding and design skills as they build a 20-foot bridge from 11 pieces of scrap steel donated by Schlosser Steel — a project that follows last year’s disqualification. The team met weekly in the fall and will meet twice a week this spring — with six students set to compete in a regional contest at the University of Pittsburgh to advance to the national finals in El Paso. - ➤ Students from Moravian University took part in Heritage Day today by volunteering at over 40 sites across Bethlehem—planting live stakes at Monocacy Creek to prevent erosion and sorting clothing at a local thrift boutique. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Work on replacing the Route 33 bridges over Bushkill Creek between Palmer Township and Stockertown is more than a year behind schedule and $3 million over budget due to flood and sinkhole problems—this redesign means the project, originally set to finish this summer, will now complete in fall. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Cathedral Church of the Nativity with help from Community Action Lehigh Valley and New Bethany will convert two rowhomes at 230 and 232 W. Third St.—located near the South Bethlehem gateway—into six affordable housing units with a 15-year affordability promise after the Zoning Hearing Board approved the special exceptions and a variance on Wednesday. Project officials have secured $540,000 in grant funding and plan to renovate the historic homes rather than demolish them. Lehigh Valley News
