- ➤ Neighbors in Upper Saucon Township have organized a basket raffle to raise money for Julie Gudz after record flooding along Route 309 and Hopewell Road damaged her home foundation and caused her basement to cave in. Tickets are being sold at Viper Martial Arts and Living Memorial Park with winners drawn today at 4:00 p.m. (bundles are priced at 5 for $5, 25 for $20, and 50 for $35). WFMZ
- ➤ On September 19th, two new archery ranges opened in Northampton County parks with one at Gerald Seyfried Bear Swamp Park in Upper Mount Bethel Township and the other at Wayne Grube Memorial Park in Allen Township. County Executive Lamont McClure cut the ribbon at 1:00 p.m. and tried his hand at archery while the Pennsylvania Game Commission assisted in creating the ranges for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. - ➤ Air Products said its Gardner Cryogenics plant will permanently close the Fogelsville facility and shift work from the Emmaus site to Bethlehem or other local areas. Layoffs for 14 union workers will take effect on November 17 and more job cuts are expected due to low orders—union leaders expressed concern over the changes. WFMZ
- ➤ Gov. Shapiro visited B. Braun on Thursday in the Lehigh Valley to celebrate the company’s $20 million expansion at its Hanover Township facility—plans that will create 200 new jobs over three years and open a new workforce training center with $1.5 million in state funds. - ➤ Lehigh Valley is kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with the 2025 Hispanic Chamber Annual Awards Gala held today at the Centennial Conference Center in Center Valley, where over 180 guests honor community leaders including Javier Diaz, Vanesa Rivera and Allentown City Realty; Yamelisa Jiménez Taveras and Tony Iannelli lead speeches and performances—bringing the community together. - ➤ Moravian University’s historic Second Single Brethren’s House—once used as a Revolutionary War hospital—will receive $750k in federal funds to replace 91 decrepit windows and prevent further structural damage; the new windows will be installed in fall to improve acoustics for the music department. - ➤ PennDOT scheduled extensive road work across Lehigh County this week—Route 873’s northbound lane remains closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for repairs, and lane restrictions on county roads in Weisenberg, Upper Macungie and Bethlehem will affect travel on Tuesday through Thursday. - ➤ Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center and Lehigh University have announced a 10-year partnership to bring researchers and clinicians together to create new rehabilitation tools for people with disabilities.
