- ➤ Twin brothers Marc and Joey Kubushefski renovated a new location at 125 E. Third St on Bethlehem’s South Side after a fire closed their original shop in February 2023 — Paranormal Pizza will open next month with updated facilities, including new ovens, improved seating and a dark Gothic design, serving plant-based pizzas, calzones, burgers with impossible patties and vegan wings. - ➤ Costco announced today a recall of its Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke due to a listeria risk from green onions—products packaged on Sept 18th with a sell-by of Sept 22nd are sold in 33 states, including Bethlehem. Customers with the product are urged to discard it or return it to Costco for a full refund, and no illnesses have been reported so far. Lehigh Valley Live

- ➤ Bethlehem’s Backyard Astronomy Guy Marty McGuire said that Saturn was very bright this week. On Sept.21, Saturn reached opposition—when Earth lay between it and the sun—and it was the brightest object in the eastern sky after sunset. Lehigh Valley News
- ➤ On Sunday, the city marked the first year of its sister city partnership with Patillas, Puerto Rico by holding a flag-raising ceremony, parade and fun event at SteelStacks during Hispanic Heritage Month. City leaders praised the Latino community’s strong legacy — and committee members will visit Patillas in December to build ties through education and job programs. Lehigh Valley News

- ➤ The Janessa Fleming Memorial Fund awarded six scholarships to local students in honor of Janessa Fleming. The fund aims to support students as they prepare for college and future careers. WFMZ
- ➤ The Bethlehem Area School District Board voted Monday to withhold part of its charter school payments until the state passes a budget to protect district finances. It also approved a special education contract worth about $10.52 million, an updated MOU for expanding the vocational school campus, air quality testing in several buildings, and new scoreboards for Liberty High School’s Memorial Gym — with bids set for December and construction planned to start early next year. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lehigh University sold the former St. John's Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church at 617 East 4th Street to St. Luke's University Health Network on Monday — the sale price was not disclosed. The property, bought in 2023 for $3.75 million and used as a polling place and summer camp site, will help expand local community health services. WFMZ
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Pennsylvania realtors reported that the median home sales price in August rose 6.4% to $319,250 compared to last year as a Fed rate cut is expected to lower mortgage costs and boost buyer interest. The report noted that there were 41,497 home listings last month and market stability gives buyers confidence + strengthens the housing market. WFMZ
