BUSINESS NEWS

  • Whoodle Works Studio, a family-run creative party studio owned by sisters Claudia Rodriguez and Sandra Catenaro, will open Saturday, Sept. 27 at Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township—offering public and private parties, workshops, and DIY art projects for children and adults. The updated space formerly housed Mom and Pop's General Store and promises a new venue for creative fun.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lehigh University students use formal advising to plan their classes yet many reach out to mentors—such as alumni, coaches, and local professionals—for personal guidance that helps them tackle exam stress and career decisions.  The Brown and White
  • Lehigh students lead a range of fitness classes at Taylor Gym where they balance coursework and teaching methods learned online. They prepare by curating music playlists and choreographing workouts to keep their peers engaged — a role that builds their leadership and strengthens community ties.  The Brown and White
  • Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech campus and satellite school improvements will begin next year and be funded by attending districts—Liberty HS will get a new scoreboard as Liberty Athletic Club reimburses $30,000 per year over seven years. District officials expressed concern over a deadlocked state budget that raises questions about charter school expenses and nurse contracts—officials plan to address funding issues as details are finalized.  Bethlehem Press
  • On Monday night, the Bethlehem Area School District board cut charter school funding by 30% because of a nearly $30 million gap from a delayed state budget. The unanimous vote will improve cash flow by about $1 million a month — although it will not cover the full loss, schools like Lehigh Valley Academy continue to monitor the situation.  WFMZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Community members gathered today at Lamberton Hall for the 'Shattering Silence: Suicide Awareness and Healing in Communities of Color' event where licensed counselors and university officials talked about mental health issues and shared ways to care for one another—speakers R. Samantha Williams, Angel Reyes, and Cornelia Sewell-Allen offered personal stories and self-care advice.  The Brown and White
  • On Tuesday morning, Michelle Zenie from the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley joined 69 News at Sunrise with the Schneider family to share how the foundation helped during a challenging time with their child Kylie. SPORTS NEWS

  • Madison McCartney, a senior for Lehigh University volleyball, led her team with 22 blocks and an all-tournament team finish at the Steel Classic Tournament on Sept. 12-13 — a strong performance that highlighted her leadership despite the removal of captain titles. Coach Shawn McLaughlin said the change reduced pressure on all players — fostering shared responsibility that raised the team’s overall effort.  The Brown and White
