CULTURE NEWS

  • Crews will begin laying steel for the glass and steel Overlook on History exhibit in early October at the Colonial Industrial Quarter to create an educational space honoring preservation pioneer Ralph Schwarz. The project—using repurposed shoring material from the Grist Miller’s House—will open in 2026 and feature exhibitions on local historic trades.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Littlebird and the Bad Eggs—an eclectic indie rock band—joined 69 News at Sunrise Monday morning to share how they began and what makes their sound unique. The band, about a year and a half old, will perform at BaconFest on Nov. 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  WFMZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Kerry Group opened a multi-million coffee roasting plant in Hanover Township—creating 61 jobs—and received $516,880 in state support, with plans to expand further soon. Gov. Shapiro said the investment will boost the local economy as the Lehigh Valley strengthens its food production market.  Lehigh Valley Economic Development

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A 51-acre pumpkin patch in Northampton County is now the 20,000th acre of preserved farmland—board member Roger Unangst, who added it to his 230-acre tree farm, said the move helps protect local farms for future generations. Pennsylvania leads the nation in preserved farmland, a fact that underscores the importance of this local effort.  WFMZ

  • On Monday, local coffee shops in the Lehigh Valley celebrated National Coffee Day; Terra Cafe in Easton gave free coffee to city employees and each fifth customer got a cup while Paradise Kafe in Bethlehem held its soft opening and plans a grand opening with a ribbon-cutting at noon Oct. 1—Nowhere Coffee Company in Allentown offered special coffee bags.  WFMZ

  • Lehigh women’s basketball players received their Patriot League Championship rings on Saturday, Sept. 27—after defeating Army West Point to advance to NCAA March Madness. The team celebrated the honor and remains undefeated in the Patriot League with a 15-3 record.  The Brown and White
