- ➤ A trunk-or-treat at Bethlehem’s Northeast Community Center on Fritz Drive attracted a few hundred families on Oct 9 and offered free food, candy and raffles while sharing plans to redesign the aging Pembroke Village public housing. City officials plan to apply for a grant ($50M) to fund the project that will add (456 new living units) and enhance community spaces over the next five to seven years. Lehigh Valley News

- ➤ Manufacturing executives said they are investing in Lehigh Valley because its location, skilled workforce, and local support help boost new projects. Companies such as B. - ➤ Mis Raices Restaurant & Bakery is opening its second location downtown at 8 W. Broad St. in a renovated former Subway space in early December—co-owner Laura Rativa said the new site will seat around 70 customers—and will offer takeout and delivery. WFMZ

- ➤ The seventh annual Easton Book Festival will run from Oct. 13 to Oct. 23 at 10 locations and will feature over 100 authors and 70 free events. - ➤ Local sculptor Chelsea Southard’s 'Down the Line' honors Bethlehem Steel history and is on display in front of the Bethlehem Visitor Center (on view through October 2026) as part of Steel Weekend events happening today and Sunday. - ➤ Trout anglers in Bethlehem can look forward as the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will stock roughly 116,500 trout in 188 waters during the fall season, including about 900 to 1,000 trout in the Little Lehigh (set for October 14) and additional stockings in November and December. The commission warned that warm weather may delay operations and reminded anglers to follow Extended Trout Season Regulations and safety rules for boaters and paddlers. Bethlehem Press
- ➤ Martin Guitar hosted its first sustainability summit on October 9th at its solar-powered Commerce Lane facility in Tatamy—bringing together over 100 industry leaders and artists to talk about green ways in music and making. - ➤ Today marks the start of Pennsylvania’s junior pheasant season, which runs until Oct. 18, and the statewide season will open on Oct. 25.
