Mighty Pawz Special Operations still works to help animals in Bethlehem and nearby areas with fast rescues and care.  Bethlehem Press
  • Bethlehem will open its new Walnut Street Garage during Walnut Week from November 17 to 21 after demolishing the old structure. The city, the parking authority and the chamber of commerce will host events including a 3:30 p.m. press conference on Monday, bike giveaways on Tuesday, a rooftop wellness event on Wednesday, a ribbon cutting on Thursday and a business promotion on Friday.  Lehigh Valley Live
  • Local nonprofits are preparing to support residents facing SNAP cuts; the Quakertown Food Pantry received over 1,000 pounds of food in two days and Emmaus Public Library opened a Share Shelf for free supplies — both efforts aim to assist those most at risk.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bethlehem Fire Department works with only 18 firefighters per shift and is short eight personnel, as a new study from IAFF Local 735 shows the need for 31 on duty plus a new station to meet rising service calls. City officials will update the 2026 budget and add new recruits—efforts aimed at cutting overtime and boosting safety—so the department can better serve a growing city.  WLVR
  • Bethlehem City Council is moving ahead with its 40 in 10 plan to fix parks after community feedback on issues like old bathrooms and overgrown trees, with Friendship Park already under renovation to add more grass, shade and a splash pad. Residents shared ideas during pop-up events and the city hired Omnes Consultants (a design firm) to guide future improvements.  The Brown and White

SPORTS NEWS

  • Junior defender and midfielder Ella Stephenson has led the Lehigh field hockey team this season—she has scored key game-winning goals and tied for the lead with four on the season.
