COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bethlehem is providing casework for 53 residents at a 20-acre homeless encampment along the Lehigh River as the settlement nears closure on Dec. 15 — officials said many have accepted help at Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering while some remain hesitant. City leaders and local partners will continue working closely with those affected to connect them with housing solutions and services.  Lehigh Valley News
  • Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering opened this weekend at 75 E. Market St. (its back entrance is at Christ Church United Church of Christ) to provide overnight beds, meals, and basic supplies for guests 18 and older with a police voucher, and it will operate seven days a week through April 30, with local volunteers and partnerships supporting services like counseling and a community resource navigator at 11 W.   • Dina’s Authentic Dominican Kitchen and Ippa Pizza Napoletana are offering discounted meals to SNAP recipients affected by halted benefits amid the government shutdown—owners Csir and Holmes say the offers are meant to ease food insecurity until benefits resume.  WFMZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Two iconic Bethlehem holiday traditions have been nominated for national awards—Christkindlmarkt is competing for Best Holiday Market and Best U.S. Christmas Market while the PEEPS Chick Drop from PEEPSFEST is a contender for Best New Year’s Eve Drop. The winners will be announced on November 20 and December 10 with voting ending on November 12 for The Zoe Report and December 1 for USA TODAY 10BEST.  WFMZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania State Police Troop M will patrol the roadways for occupant restraint law violations during the 'Click it or Ticket' campaign from November 10 through November 30. They will host two car seat installation events—one on November 10 at Life Span Day Care in Milford Township and another on November 13 at Arts Quest Parking Lot in Bethlehem.  WFMZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ambetter Health began open enrollment on November 1 for affordable 2026 health coverage in 39 counties—expanding into nine central Pennsylvania counties through a new partnership with Geisinger Health System. Residents must enroll by December 15 to receive benefits that include virtual 24/7 care and wellness rewards.  WFMZ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • More than 25 Lehigh Valley restaurants and caterers will offer Thanksgiving dinner options for dine-in and takeout—featuring turkey, stuffing and seasonal sides with set prices and reservation deadlines from Nov. 15 to Nov. 27. Customers can secure their meals by placing orders or making reservations before these deadlines.  WFMZ
