COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At the National Museum of Industrial History, veterans and their families signed an American flag during the annual ceremony held on Veterans Day in Bethlehem. Donald Trexler of the Steelworkers Veterans Memorial Committee said the event honored the military's legacy tied to Bethlehem Steel's role in our community—reflecting a long-standing tradition of remembrance.  WFMZ
  • On Veterans Day, local ceremonies in Easton and Reading honored our troops with speeches and tributes—Cumru Elementary hosted a service to remember their sacrifice.  WFMZ

CRIME NEWS

  • The Cybersecurity Association of Pennsylvania warned seniors about a surge in 'phantom hacker' scams that use fake tech support, bank, or government contacts to trick victims and drain retirement funds+ the FBI reports over $1 billion has been lost nationwide as these scams evolve.  Bethlehem Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On Tuesday night, LVEDC held its Fall Signature Event at Archer Music Hall with a special round of Lehigh Valley trivia that celebrated local makers contributing $9 billion in output from 700 companies—LVEDC also launched a digital billboard campaign to spotlight firms like Crayola, which began production here in 1903.  WFMZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bethlehem Area Public Library has released updated hours and event schedules with all branches closing early on Thanksgiving Eve and remaining closed on Thanksgiving Day. The library offers many programs for all ages including storytimes, art sessions, and tutoring (some events require registration).  Bethlehem Press
  • At Liberty HS, the Hurricanes won a rivalry football game on Oct. 25 by a score of 42 to 40 and then won a playoff game 26 to 14 before losing 38 to 20 to Easton Rovers, ending their season. Spirit Week featured theme days and events while the school’s arts groups will soon perform a theater show on Nov. 14 and 16 and host holiday concerts on Dec. 12 and 15.  Bethlehem Press

  • Assistant Police Chief Chris Houtz is set to retire from LUPD after 25 years of service, having launched projects like therapy dogs at campus events and a safety app—HawkWatch. He will move down south soon to enjoy a relaxed retirement.  The Brown and White

SPORTS NEWS

  • No. 2 Lehigh men's soccer beat No. 4 Boston University 1–0 Tuesday night at Ulrich Sports Complex (sophomore Giacomo Zizza scored in the 54th minute) to advance to the Patriot League Championship. The team will host No. 6 Lafayette in its rivalry game Saturday at 6 p.m.  The Brown and White
  • Lehigh’s 106-0 win over Penn State on November 11, 1889, remains its largest victory as the Flying Wedge formation produced 18 ground touchdowns before the game was ended early — offensive coordinator Dan Hunt said the record still fills the team with pride while modern football now uses safer plays and better gear.  The Brown and White
