BUSINESS NEWS

  • Allegiant Air pilots from Teamsters Local 2118 are holding informational pickets today at 22 airports, including Lehigh Valley International, at 10 a.m.—the airport said flight schedules will not be affected as the union continues its contract dispute over fair pay.  WFMZ
  • Entrepreneurs Joel Ritter and Mary Reshetar opened Unwine Vineyards Bar & Art Emporium at 309 E Third St in Bethlehem where visitors can sip wine, view original art, and try handcrafted herbal goods. They built the shop to share their passions—mixing art with wine—while welcoming local customers.  The Brown and White

CULTURE NEWS

  • ArtsQuest announced that 'Weird Al' Yankovic will headline Musikfest on August 4 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage (PNC Plaza) with special guest Puddles Pity Party. Ticket access will open Nov. 17 (for ArtsQuest members) and Nov. 21 for the public.  WFMZ
  • ArtsQuest announced Bailey Zimmerman as the first Musikfest 2026 headliner and he will perform on Thursday, August 6 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza. Ticket access begins on Monday for ArtsQuest Members — general ticket sales start on November 21.  WFMZ
  • Today, the Bethlehem Area Public Library held its seventh annual 11Fest where 11 local bands performed to raise about $1,000 from $11 donation tickets that support Studio 11—its free recording studio. Library officials and musicians stressed the event’s role in sustaining a vibrant space for local creativity.  The Brown and White

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, a law signed by the governor allows cash payments for school events after Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams) sponsored a bill to help seniors and others without credit or debit cards. The law, part of the Education Code bill in the state budget, led the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association to rescind its online-only ticket policy.  WFMZ
  • Ralph Andrews declined the offer to lead Hanover Elementary, so the Bethlehem Area School Board is now interviewing candidates. BASD Superintendent Jack Silva said the board is expected to approve a new principal on Dec. 15.  Lehigh Valley News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bethlehem officials unveiled the $27 million Walnut Street Parking Garage as part of Walnut Week, replacing an old facility demolished two years ago after a beam fell on a building. The modern garage will open on Thursday with four free hours of parking — it comes as the city hosts events like a bike giveaway on Tuesday and a rooftop wellness gathering — supporting downtown growth during the busy holiday season.  WFMZ
  • Pennsylvania American Water filed a rate increase request with the state commission to fund $1.2 billion in water and sewer system improvements through 2027. If approved, typical water bills will rise by about $14 per month, wastewater by $10, and combined systems by roughly $20.  WFMZ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • At 13 to 15 East Third Street, Bethlehem's Historic Conservation Commission heard a plan on Monday from building owner Vipul Shah and applicant Emmanuel Patricio to replace the longstanding tile design that marked the former F&W Grand store—new tile samples and design ideas must be provided to help preserve historic features while attracting modern tenants. The commission also reviewed proposals for changes to storefronts, entrances, and signage before scheduling another meeting for further approvals.  WFMZ
