COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Teams from several local companies (Just Born, Lutron, Northeast Products & Services, and Ocean Spray) assembled 40 bikes last Wednesday during the second annual Santa's Standard Workshop to donate holiday gifts to children. Community Bike Works will pick up each bike to support its youth programs.  WFMZ
  • Bethlehem plans holiday events. First Presbyterian Church holds a Christmas Joy Concert with Handel’s (The Messiah) on Dec. 21 at 4 p.m., MunOpCo Music Theatre performs Tree of Lights on Dec. 13 at NCC Lipkin Theatre, and Martin Guitar hosts a Holiday Open House on Dec. 17 in Nazareth.  Bethlehem Press

  • Miracle on 34th Street – the musical – premiered Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, bringing holiday magic to the community as it ran through Sunday and united families with a timeless story.  WFMZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania American Water is asking customers in 17 counties including Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill to reduce nonessential water use by 10-15% amid an expanded drought watch announced by the DEP this week; residents are urged to adopt conservation tips to prepare for potential stricter measures (the water company provided guidelines).  WFMZ
